Camera Location Registration
Turning your vantage points into a partnership

Do you currently have a camera system at your business or home for the security and protection of your property, family or employees? If so, we’d like to hear from you. The Laurie community has an additional opportunity to partner with the Laurie Police Department— technologically – to help fight crime.

Video footage is one of the best methods for identifying and apprehending criminals and convicting those who are caught in the act of committing a crime. Using LPD’s website, Laurie business owners or residents can register their security cameras with the police and allow LPD to access the footage if needed. LPD will maintain a database of partners’ camera locations, vantage points and equipment information, along with details regarding the recording and storage of the data. Should the devices have the potential to be helpful in the investigation of a crime or even of “real-time” use during criminal activity or a community emergency, the database will allow the police to quickly determine the availability of video footage.

Note, officers will not be able to monitor your camera footage. This program only allows LPD to know there are cameras in the area where a crime has occurred. Officers can then request footage from the owner if that footage contains evidence of a crime.

Recognizing that police rarely can solve public safety problems alone, our philosophy of community policing encourages interactive partnerships with the City’s stakeholders. Utilizing this coactive approach (i.e. working together) through a new use of current technologies will enhance the effectiveness of your police department and create a safer environment for our community.

To become a part of this new program and register your camera equipment or system, simply fill out this registration form below.

Doing so will make you a partner in the latest crime prevention program launched by the LPD in our continuing efforts to fight crime by enhancing community engagement.
